  • The role of environmental and social labels in procurement Public space

Many public authorities who wish to include environmental and social requirements in their tenders will do so by referring to labels. Labels which enjoy widespread recognition include PEFC and FSC (for paper and wood products), Energy Star and TCO (for IT equipment) and the EU Ecolabel, Nordic Swan and Blue Angel (covering a wide range of products and services)....

  • Production processes and methods - how far can you go? Public space

Mixed offerings for SPP in proposed EU Procurement Directives

Hallo, Abby, Thanks for your respond! As I am working mainly in the field of social fair trade in the past years my "every-day" problem was the legally required extent of connection between product and technical specification or award criteria and circumstances in the production process. This was seen very critical till now as you know. Now its the first time that the directive mentions - besides ecological - social circumstances in the production process in the context of technical specific...

    Directive on Energy Efficiency

Dear Ulla! I can only support the points you raised. For AUT the new aim would mean, that we would have to at least double our annual work schedule for renovation. How this could be financed remains a mystery. Furthermore we have a lot of old public buildings (dating back 100 to 300 years, some even older). How we should deal with them in the context of the proposal remains in the dark. In our official response to the Comm services we raised the points so we will see what their ideas/solutions...
